COVID-19 Prevention and Expectations
To minimize the spread of Covid-19, if you have been exposed to someone having Covid-19 or you have been diagnosed with Covid-19 within the last 14 days, we cannot have you come into the office for 14 days and without symptoms, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell sensation.
Wearing a mask or face covering over your nose and mouth is mandatory for all those coming into the office. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you. Face shields are not acceptable. Upon entering the office, you will have your temperature checked and we ask that you use provided hand sanitizer. To minimize exposure, we are asking all visitors to remain outside of the office. If a visitor must accompany the patient into the office, they will need to follow this same procedure.
We at Deschutes Rheumatology want to give you an update on our thoughts regarding the Covid-19 vaccines which have been approved and are being administered for emergency use in the United States.
The preparations manufactured by Pfizer and Moderna have shown to be highly effective as well as safe in most patient groups. It is our recommendation that all patients should receive one of the vaccines unless you are in a high-risk group due to severe allergic reactions, an unstudied group such as pregnancy, or unless you have some specific contraindication. If you have questions about this, we would refer you to your primary care physician but we would recommend your receiving the vaccine regardless of your rheumatologic disease or treatment.
We will not be administering the vaccine in our office. It is important that you receive both injections in the series.

New Patient Notice
The practice has temporarily closed the practice to new patients, however, if the patient's condition is urgent or emergent, the referring provider must contact our providers and communicate the reasons why they must be seen immediately. We hope to re-open the practice to new patients in September, 2021. Deschutes Rheumatology is open to any patient with Medicaid-OHP with the above caveat. All prospective new patients must be referred by their medical provider and their medical records sent or faxed as well; the medical records will be reviewed prior to scheduling.
